Marina Da Silva is a multi-instrumentalist performing artist and teacher, born and raised in Bondi Beach, Australia. Marina’s Brazilian family heritage instilled in her a life-long passion for music, dance, and cultural art forms. A career in dance led her to choreograph and perform for artists, events and companies throughout the country, in styles ranging from classical ballet, to commercial hip hop, Brasilian samba, Afro-fusion and more. In the area of music, a dedication to rhythm and percussion has led her to dive deep into the world of percussion in the Sydney music scene and overseas; training and performing with leaders in the fields of traditional Afro-Latin-Caribbean rhythms. Marina’s love for sharing music through DJ-ing and radio began at Marrickville’s Skid Row community radio, where she hosted a weekly show for two years in 2016, whilst also DJ-ing at local community events and venues in the inner west suburbs of Sydney. Marina currently hosts ‘FlyWaves’ a weekly afternoon radio show on Bondi Beach Radio, where she can be found spinning all types of beachside bops, with a special focus on local and independent artists. From pop to hip hop, rnb to reggaeton, disco to dancehall, both for radio and local community events and venues, Marina enjoys bringing a fun vibe with tunes and mixes that make you feel good.
